Job Summary: The HRGN appreciates and understands how their work connects to the bigger picture, helping to sustain and nurture a corporate culture that drives strong business results. The HRGN facilitates HR activities, provides advice on employment laws, regulations,and best practices, and collaborates with employees and the leadership to keep FLFE a Great Place to Work and help us move to the next level. The HRGN initiates, leads, and manages the day-to-day operations of the human department, as well as the administration of policies and procedures.

This is a full-time position that reports to the General Manager. The working hours are 8:30 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday, but the ideal candidate can work flexible hours as agreed with their manager.

Duties & Responsibilities: Develop, maintain, and administer Employee policies & procedures Handbook and guidelines, ensuring Provincial and Federal compliance standards are met and staying up-to-date and compliant.

Work with FLFE’s management to implement and coordinate HR best practices and strive for a great candidate and employee experience (celebration & recognition, onboarding, offboarding, culture, etc.)

Maintain up-to-date employee paper and electronic files, Administer the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) to track the key HR metrics.

Oversee the recruitment process, including updating job descriptions, managing job postings, vetting resumes and interviewing candidates, processing reference checks and background checks, working with managers to define selection criteria and assessments, and ensuring offers are prepared in alignment with FLFE’s overall strategy and philosophy while orchestrating a consistent & effective onboarding process.

Develop and manage a comprehensive onboarding program that creates a warm welcome for all new hires and integrates them into the FLFE culture.

Manage and coordinate ongoing internal and external training courses; liaise with training providers, check and confirm schedules/availability, draft announcements, track attendance, and acquire feedback on programs from staff to analyze and optimize the investments in training.

Keep a pulse on compensation market trends to advise on Rewards Strategy/Philosophy and assist with compensation and benefits management to improve employee satisfaction, including retention rate.

Own all things Occupational Health & Safety to ensure all our offices comply with WorkSafe guidelines.

Implement occasional special projects to support the needs of the business.

Although change is constant, the HRGN shall stay aligned with the business owners, other managers and team members while maintaining the company values & mission as we implement initiatives.

Other Expectations: Shall maintain a professional and positive presence, foster, and promote teamwork.

Self-regulate and self-motivate, including doing the necessary self-care to manage the workload effectively.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree with postgraduate education in Human Resources Management.

Eligible to work in Canada; shall be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident or have a work permit.

Fluency in English; knowledge of other languages, especially French, would be an asset.

Excellent written & oral communication, time management and organizational skills

Proven track record in HR with a minimum of 3 years experience in Small or Medium Enterprises.

Demonstrated understanding of British Columbia Employment Standards and other employment laws and regulations and knowledge of human resources best practices.

Ability to exercise discretion while exhibiting a high level of confidentiality.

Ability to connect with people, understand their needs, instill confidence, and build an environment that fosters growth and inclusion.

Hands-on experience with HR Information Systems (HRIS), like BambooHR, HRdownloads or PeopleSoft

Ability to work collaboratively as a critical team member and independently with minimum supervision.

Social Media savvy, proficient at using Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, & LinkedIn for HR activities.

A person who is relentless in making HR and business communication improvements.

Excellent problem-solving, conflict resolution and critical thinking skills. • Ability to understand and accurately convey complex scientific, metaphysical, or esoteric concepts.

Open-minded, non-judgmental, and friendly, able to collaborate with the team.
