Strategic Financial Advisor

Council requires an experienced accountant to join our finance team as Strategic Financial Advisor and contribute to shaping the financial future of our district. This is a unique role in local government, as a trusted advisor and reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will play a crucial role in analysing financial data, developing strategic initiatives, and ensuring responsible fiscal management across Council.

Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive financial analysis to inform decision-making and strategic planning.

Develop long-term financial strategies aligned with Council’s goals and priorities.

Provide expert advice on budget formulation, revenue generation, and expenditure optimization.

Collaborate with department heads and executive to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.

Monitor economic trends, regulatory changes, and fiscal risks to mitigate potential impacts.

Prepare clear and concise reports and presentations for senior leadership and Council.

Foster transparency and accountability in financial management practices.

To be successful in this role you will have:

As an experienced accountant, you will be required to bring to this role:

Previous experience in financial analysis, strategic planning, or local government finance.

Knowledge of government budgeting processes, fiscal policies, and regulatory requirements.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and manage competing priorities effectively.

Commitment to upholding ethical standards and serving the public interest.
