About the role:
This role will be focused on managing all health and safety systems, training and requirements for a manufacturing facility in Whakatane. Some of your main duties and responsibilities will include:
Develop, implement, and continuously improve health and safety policies, procedures, and programs in alignment with regulatory standards and company objectives.
Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Provide leadership and guidance to the health and safety team, ensuring proper training, resources, and support are available to all employees.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate health and safety considerations into all aspects of operations, including new projects, processes, and equipment.
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement preventive measures to mitigate future occurrences.
Maintain records and prepare reports on health and safety performance, trends, and compliance metrics for management review.
About you:
Our ideal candidate will be an experienced Health and Safety manager with at least 5+ years experience in managing Health and Safety for an organisation. As this role is a hands on management role, you'll need to have excellent communication skills and experience in working with people throughout all levels of the organisation, and delivering effictive training across H&S systems, practices and policies.
Having a qualification in H&S will be a great advantage in this role along with a good understanding of health and safety legislation in the manufacturing industry. Ideally our preferred candidates will also have demonstrated leadership experience in managing teams of Health and Safety Advisors and Coordinators.
