Marketing and Communications Manager

Marketing Communications (Marketing & Communications)

TAFT (Taranaki Arts Festival Trust) – organiser of WOMAD New Zealand, Taranaki Arts Festivals, and Centuria Taranaki Garden Festival, is seeking a dynamic Marketing Communications Manager to implement and deliver high-level marketing and communications strategies across all four festivals annually.These events are recognised nationally and as such require a manager that can present forward thinking strategies to exacting standards.

The right candidate will have at least five years of experience working in a marketing and communications role; the ability to be a creative problem solver and deadline enthusiast who can manage competing priorities while being a positive collaborator in a small team and within the community. Working in large-scale arts, music, events, tourism, or lifestyle industries will be advantageous.

This role requires an individual who is proactive in keeping up to date with the latest industry trends across all platforms, can build strong relationships with key stakeholders, be responsible for delivering tactical event marketing activities and finds new creative ways to diversify and grow audience engagement across all festival channels. Please be aware this is a hands on role and not just a staff managing role.

This role requires a hands on, digitally savvy marketer. You will be up to date with all the current mechanisms for marketing via social media etc and be able to manage budgets closely.

This candidate will have stamina, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work with a small team that delivers on big visions.

Key responsibilities:

Drive marketing and communication activities and deliver high-impact, integrated campaigns to support each festival's vision, strategic plan and targets.

Develop marketing and PR plans and critical timelines and manage campaigns across all channels (socials, TV, radio, print, outdoor and online).

Create and author impactful brand and audience-focused content across eDMs, social media, websites, media and publications.

Brief and execute creative assets with graphic designers and creative design agencies.

Work closely with the Festival Managers and Publicity team to coordinate strategic requirements.

Management of marketing communications budgets in consultation with the CEO, Business Manager and Festival Directors, including keeping accurate records of accounts.

Identify and implement cross-promotional opportunities with affiliated organisations.

Engage and manage relationships with key external services providers (suppliers and creative, PR, media and talent agencies) to ensure activities are delivered on time, on budget and with brand consistency.

Ensure all creative assets are supplied correctly and on time to media, PR, creative agencies, and suppliers.

Proof and copy check all artwork and creative.

Project wrap-up reports and meetings to assess team effectiveness and ensure learnings are implemented for the future.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum five years experience in a marketing and communications role

Appropriate tertiary qualifications in marketing, business or management are desirable.

Arts, music, events, tourism and lifestyle marketing experience is highly regarded.

Highly developed oral and written communication skills, an ability to adapt voice styles to suit audiences and programs, and vital proofreading and editing skills for publication

Demonstrated organisational and project management skills, including a proven ability to plan, initiate and manage concurrent marketing campaigns with competing deadlines.

Experience in developing and delivering successful integrated and on-brand event marketing campaigns to budget

Experience in leading and developing social media strategy, PR outcomes (earned media), content creation, working with creative talent/influencers and advertising campaigns across all mediums

Demonstrated experience in fostering internal and external stakeholder relationships and seeking mutually beneficial promotional opportunities

A proactive 'can-do attitude and ability to take the initiative, think creatively and adapt to change.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

This position is fulltime and requires the successful candidate to be able to work in New Plymouth. Reporting to the CEO of Taranaki Arts Festival Trust (TAFT)
