Programme Manager - Construction

Wellington, Wellington, New Zealand

One of New Zealand’s biggest Government organisation is seeking a seasoned and driven Programme Manager to join their ranks and contribute to an infrastructure team working across multiple functional areas and disciplines.

Join and lead a large-scale construction programme, funded for a further 15 months within one of New Zealand’s largest government organisations, to deliver outcomes across various projects. The ideal candidate will be self-managing and autonomous, who is able to plan effectively across multiple projects to enable a successful outcome. They will also need to be someone who can engage with executive stakeholders. Therefore, the successful candidate will need to be very senior and capable.

The must haves for this role are as follows: Outstanding leadership skills – this role will be leading a project team, as well as wider integrated consultant teams.

Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills – the successful candidate will be responsible for working up, and across the organisation and its broad collection of stakeholders.

A minimum of ten years’ experience in Project/Programme management roles - preferably in fast-moving, complex environments.

Proven Project and/or Programme Management skills - reporting; risks and issues; dependency management; benefit tracking; planning and scheduling; and excellent communication skills (verbal and written).

Infrastructure-focussed commercial acumen – this role supports the commercial and procurement lead to ensure cost effectiveness is maintained throughout all professional service and construction contract negotiations and management.

Experience in business case development - this role leads development of implementation business cases, driving these through internal and Cabinet approval processes.

A minimum ‘Confidential’ level of security clearance level is required.

Substantial experience working within construction projects and/or programmes.
