Environmental Health Officers who are described as Force Health Protection Officers, plan, coordinate and implement control strategies to minimise adverse health impacts from the environment and the workplace. Service

About the role The role is a combination of environmental/public health and occupational hygiene. Occupational hygiene generally typically occupies 50% of the normal work role both in New Zealand and overseas.
You will also develop public health related training packages and programmes that will be used on deployed operations or humanitarian assistance and disaster relief duties.
Ultimately your advice and input helps to ensure the health and safety of our people and the success of operations conducted both at home and overseas.
Areas of responsibility of Force Health Protection Officers include, but are not limited to the following:
Field hygiene and Waste management;
Pest and Vector control;
Communicable disease; and
Public Health assessments and investigations

All individuals selected to become Commissioned Officers in the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) are required to complete this course. It is designed to prepare students with the knowledge and experience necessary for commissioned service and the beginning of a career in leadership. This course will cover various subjects including:
RNZAF Customs and Protocol
Drill and Parades
Military Field Skills and Weapons Training
Defence and Strategic Studies
Command, Leadership and Management

Military Factor All full time members of the NZ Defence Force receive an added portion to their salary known as Military Factor. You will be directed at times to be continuously alert, undertake arduous and hazardous duties, and be exposed to adverse working environments exclusive to military life.
