As PowerNet’s newest Asset Inspector, this role can be based at either our Gore or Balclutha depots.
What does an Asset Inspector do?
Asset Inspectors inspect the poles and associated hardware on our electrical network. They ensure the integrity of the poles and hardware by identifying, categorising, and recording all defects to ensure we continue to provide customers with safe and reliable power.
Key Responsibilities include
Execute all works with asset inspection programs within timeframe
Deliver timely reporting as required on the progress of projects, quality standards and work practices as required (including taking photos of defects, structure, and system updates)
Develop and maintain good customer relationships
Actively participate in all health and safety requirements
Ensure all equipment is maintained and in good working order
How do I know this role is for me?
You will have a keen interest in the electricity industry and be eager to learn
High level of attention to detail
Have the ability to work to deadlines with minimal supervision
Be able to work productively and adapt to changing environments and working conditions (Variety of weather conditions and terrains)
Be physically fit and able
Be mechanically minded and know your way around technology (Can use a tablet)
Hold an NZ class1 Driver’s licence (minimum restricted)
Have a great attitude, excellent work ethic, strong communication skills and a desire to be part of a team
Ideally, you will be a registered Line Mechanic with at least two years’ experience within the NZ electricity industry and/or at least two years’ experience constructing and maintaining distribution electricity assets.

This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with competitive hourly rates and allowances.
