Postdoctoral Fellow

Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate for a 20-month postdoctoral fellow position starting in May 2024, to be completed by December 31st, 2025. The successful candidate will contribute to a Maurice Wilkins Centre funded project producing therapeutic monoclonal antibodies in milk from dairy goats. The platform will ultimately enable the large-scale production of monoclonal antibodies for preclinical validation.

The salary for this role is $85,000 pro-rated per year .  This is a full-time role (based on 37.5 hours a week), with time split between our Hillcrest Campus and research collaborators at AgResearch on the Ruakura Campus.

The ideal candidate will have an established track record of technical expertise in cellular and molecular biology including gene editing, cell culture as well as antibody production and validation. You will have a demonstrated ability to collaborate across interdisciplinary research teams and engaging with both academic and industrial stakeholders. You will have a passion for designing, undertaking, and publishing high quality research.

This project is a collaboration between Dr William Kelton at the University of Waikato working alongside Associate Profs Björn Oback and Goetz Laible at AgResearch. The candidate will also work alongside the Animal Biotech team at AgResearch Ruakura.
