The Role
An opportunity has become available at our Taumarunui site for a new Warehouse Manager to join our close-knit team. You will be responsible for implementing best practice to optimise warehouse processes and daily functions, minimize waste, and maximize resource utilisation.
As an experienced Warehouse Manager, you will lead and mentor a dedicated small team of warehouse personnel, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement, successfully integrating any new personnel / roles into the business.
This role is pivotal in supporting the production team and wider business, ensuring that the warehouse operates at peak efficiency, and is focused on customer satisfaction.
This role is a permanent full-time position (40 hours per week) predominantly Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work required by prior arrangement.
About You
Our team operates with a high level of collaboration, so someone who is a natural communicator and true ‘team player’ is a must to ensure the smooth flow of information sharing across multiple departments.
To be successful in this role you will be physically fit, enthusiastic, and come with experience preferably in a production / manufacturing based environment. Confidence liaising between numerous internal and external stakeholders is vitally important.
Confidence using Excel is essential and having had experience in navigating ERP/MRP systems would be a plus. The successful candidate will have a passion for working to achieve high levels of optimisation.
Key Job / Responsibilities
Lead and manage the warehouse team to maintain a high standard of efficiency and productivity.
Implement Lean principles to streamline warehouse processes and optimize resource utilisation.
Coordinate transportation of product and liaise with freight companies.
Ensure compliance with international regulations.
Supervise, train and direct assistance of warehouse operations which include, but not limited to, loading/unloading, receiving, sorting, put away, picking, and inventory control.
Have a high level of accuracy when overseeing and organising the delivery of orders to our customers.
Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to address issues and uphold customer satisfaction.
Own warehouse procedures, including complaint process. Drive alignment of uniformed process within the warehouse environment.
Manage warehouse systems and resources to ensure adequate inventory levels and timely reporting.
Administration tasks including management of inventory software, cycle counts and stock takes.
Ensuring maintenance schedules are maintained and managed for all warehouse equipment including stores, freezer, forklifts, equipment, and PPE.
Ensure all aspects of Health & Safety and Food Hygiene protocols are complied with and adhered to at all times.
Leading by example to ensure that all procedures and best practices are consistently followed.
Ensure all operational warehouse SOPs are documented and kept up to date.
Drive an efficient and motivated workforce by providing effective coaching, feedback, and encouragement.
Workforce rostering and approving labour hours and leave requests.
Evaluating performance and providing feedback to support growth and development through the creation of skill matrix.
Maintain accurate personnel records to ensure no non-conformance ie: Training matrix, licences.
Site maintenance and MHE is kept to standard, vendor p/o creation and vendor invoice reconciliation.
Train the warehouse team to solve day-to-day operational issues and improve performance.
Qualifications and Skills:
Be hardworking, dependable, and adaptable.
Have proven experience in managing a warehouse and teams.
3 – 5 years of experience in leading a warehouse operation.
Knowledge of primary industries would be an advantage.
Have good interpersonal relationship skills and the ability to work with people at all levels.
Demonstrate strong attention to detail.
Have a clean drivers' licence.
A current forklift licence with an F endorsement
Be physically fit - this role requires regular lifting, walking around the site / facility, so a good level of physical fitness is needed.
Experience using ERP systems.
Thorough understanding of health and safety protocols
Strong computer and technical skills with strong proficiency in Excel
Exceptional interpersonal communication skills (written and oral), with the ability to build relationships across diverse stakeholders.
High level of attention to detail.
