Abbeyfield is a leader in the provision of affordable rental housing for older people. As a long-standing and respected registered Community Housing Provider, we are focused on reducing loneliness and isolation through group housing. We have established housing for 167 older people in 14 locations around New Zealand, with a strong pipeline of further developments led by our subsidiary Abbeyfield Properties. Qualifications & experience
Tertiary qualification in a relevant field, including legal, financial, business, housing or planning qualification.
Substantial management experience, a background in community or for purpose (not-for-profit) organisations especially community housing; experience in advocacy, public speaking, and / or project management, and familiarity with finance and funding mechanisms.
Experience in building and maintaining strong effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Personal capabilities include principled leadership, open mindedness, resilience and adaptability, ambition and initiative with accountability for your actions and decisions.
Must be a permanent New Zealand resident.
Tasks & responsibilities
Development: work with Abbeyfield Properties board and local Societies to lead the development and capital funding of new houses nationally
Financial and asset management and oversight: build and monitor national budgets, review and advise on local budgets, manage investments, liabilities and loans, and insurance policies for all entities
Advocacy: develop and maintain key strategic partnerships and a positive perception and awareness of Abbeyfield
Governance support, strategy: support and advise national boards including meeting administration; lead strategy development and business plan implementation.
Local Society support and guidance: ensure local volunteers have comprehensive guidance through various channels
Compliance & risk management: ensure regulatory and contractual compliance, maintain risk register and risk oversight
Office and people management: build and lead a qualified team with a strong culture that values and respects local volunteers
