Gisborne is a relaxed city offering access to outstanding leisure pursuits and a caring, safe community. The city has superb outdoor facilities, golden beaches, a warm climate and a vibrant local economy based on wineries, agriculture and tourism.  Gisborne is the first place in the world to see the sun, and also holds the title of New Zealand’s surfing capital. Gisborne also boasts a varied cultural scene, as the home of festivals like Rhythm and Vines, First Light Wine and Food, and Te Tairāwhiti Arts. The influence of the region’s large Māori population is deeply felt in the language, art, and culture you can experience here.

The Gisborne Medical Department consists of six Physicians in General Medicine with sub-specialty interests and two outpatient Consultant Cardiologists as well as specialist nurses and visiting sub-specialists. As part of your inpatient duties, you will participate in medical admissions and management with an unselected medical take, giving you exposure to a wide range of medical presentations and procedures.
