Digital Infrastructure Technology Lead

Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand

Nearly three-quarters of the port's inbound cargo stays within the Auckland and Upper Waikato region. Our location on Auckland's doorstep means the delivery of goods is quick, the cost of goods is low, and we are focusing on reducing our carbon footprint to become a sustainable Port. We also have a network of freight hubs throughout the North Island, to improve access to the port for the provinces.

We have a vacancy for a Digital Infrastructure Technology Lead to join our Digital Technology team, based in our offices in Mechanics Bay.

Reporting to the Head of Digital Technology, the role of the Digital Infrastructure Technology Lead is to lead the design, build and maintenance of the various infrastructure platforms that support the Port of Auckland's application portfolio with an aim to ensuring the stability and integrity of the platforms.

Responsibilities:

Define strategies and tactics for addressing technology needs (such as system upgrades and replacements, problem resolution, etc.)

Produce infrastructure technical designs aligning with POAL's technical strategy and market developments.

Lead the maturity improvement of technical operations processes

Provide input into BAU activities, best practices, and the development of Digital Infrastructure Strategy, roadmaps, and standards.

Enhance POAL disaster recovery practices.

Act as the main contact for POAL business units, offering information and advice on technology solutions to meet their needs.

Take ownership of overall Infrastructure design aspects of assigned projects.

Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), Architects, Platform Engineers, Project Management, Cyber, and Digital Services Team.

Ensure standard solutions comply with strategy and policy.

ABOUT YOU | Ko wai koe

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.

A demonstrated ability to think, plan, and act strategically and tactically

An effective communicator who excels at collaboration and teamwork

A self-starter, willing and able to take the initiative

Sound judgement about how to apply business priorities to make good technology decisions in line with best practice

A well-rounded technology maven - proficient both on the tools and working at architecture and design levels with technologies such as Windows, Linux, Nutanix, Azure, VMWare, Networking, SQL Server, and Dell Storage.

A track record as an effective technology problem solver

Familiarity with cyber security and the application of secure-by-design principles

Background in platform engineering within a medium to large complex organization.

Demonstrated infrastructure capacity planning experience.

Experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining policies, procedures, and training documentation.

Experience in developing and supporting large corporate systems.

Expertise in infrastructure design best practices and data security.
